The Fog
Fog always adds an interesting characteristic to photography, whether it's landscape or portraiture. The thin fog is always fun to be able to shoot but that thick fog is what really gets me going. When it's so thick that it actually makes you feel weird in your gut, when you wish you hadn't watched so many scary movies, when you can't see 4 feet in front of you and are having trouble seeing and keeping your footing.
The list goes on.
It's moments after all of these absurd feelings that the calm sets in. I walk out to the beach, woods, a dock, whatever it may be... heart is usually pumping more than usual. Can't really see where I'm going but can faintly see what I want to photograph and can see my camera. I set up my tripod, attempt to get the right focus, shoot a few test shots and by this time, my heart is slower than usual and I'm totally calm. I keep shooting and get more excited when I'm getting what I want and can feel more at peace.
There's nothing like it... that's why I love shooting in the fog.
